Why Delhi would vote for Arvind Kejriwal again!
“The people have tasted the blood now. They have seen what an honest government can do. They now know what true development means and it’s certainly not in a flyover that takes thousands of crores and over ten years to complete"
‘Alternative’, one word, one thought, one question that has largely remained unanswered across India. And if at all it has been answered, the answer itself has mostly been inadequate and more or less a carbon copy of the original.
The so called traditional parties have pervaded to every nook and street of the country. Of course, here the word ‘traditional’ has a totally different meaning. In political terms, it simply means parties which continue to thrive on corruption, lobbying, underperformance and candidates with criminal records. It also refers to parties which ask for vote on the name of religion, caste and language. It’s these traditional parties which are ruling in most parts of India. However, Delhi has been slightly fortunate in finding the ‘alternative’.
Arvind Kejriwal may not be a media favourite, but if you have ever walked in Delhi colony, you would be familiar with the kind of affection he enjoys amongst the masses. The opposition claims he is winning votes by squandering public money and distributing freebies. Free electricity, free healthcare, free water, free rides and what not! How could the public be given such allowances? What is this ‘muftkhori’, they ask.
Well, somebody needs to ask them, if this is what they call it is, why it had been kept limited to politicians? And why didn't they give up on it?They enjoy subsidized food at parliament canteen, they get allowances, they scream through tolls. Isn’t it ‘muftkhori’ too? Under Arvind Kejriwal, the common man has been made the VIP. They get the best care at government hospitals, their kids study in schools with quality education and wait for it, swimming pools and hockey turfs!
The people have tasted the blood now. They have seen what an honest government can do. They now know what true development means and it’s certainly not in a flyover that takes thousands of crores and over ten years to complete. What Arvind Kejriwal is doing in Delhi is well thought over. It’s not being done just to win votes. He is making life easier for people. And when you reduce hardships in lives of the common folks, they progress on their own!
Nobody is living in a cave today. Most houses have access to what’s happening in the country. And people in Delhi just can’t help but compare. They said AK wouldn’t be able to provide a stable government. And look what he has done. Perhaps, Delhi is one of the most stable and efficient governments in the country. There is an air of approachability and understanding about this government. It listens. It works and is not shy of correcting.
They are not rulers but truly what they should be –representatives. Sounds like an alien concept? Well, it still is for most parts of the country. It’s just the ‘Dilliwalas’ who know better. If AAP continues to walk the line of change it would remain a breath of fresh air in Indian politics. And that’s a medal no other party has managed in decades of independence.
