This isn’t a new topic. Waking up early is one thing you are being told since childhood. For some it’s a mere advice, for others with stricter parents it ranges from switching off the fan to a bucket of water. But childhood is gone and you have your own decisions to make now. And waking up at 5 is just where you need to start. Not 6, not 7, it has to be before daybreak. Anytime beyond that is just a routine rush to work.

But why, why would you compromise on even an hour of sleep? For starters, imagine taking guard on a race track. You are all set to dash with a blow of the gun. Your head turns to glance at the competitors and you are surprised. All of your competitors are starting from twenty meters behind you. What are your chances of winning that race? That’s exactly the advantage you get by waking up at 5. You give yourself an advantage of those extra few minutes that may just give you the lead in life. While most people are in bed, you have already kick-started your day.

However, it’s not just about the time. Rather, it’s about the quality of the time. This beautiful hour when the sun slowly appears from the horizon has a refreshing power that’s unmatched. Your body is well relaxed, your mind is fresh and you don’t just have to waste it on making a dash for the office because it’s still early and you have time, plenty of it to plan and use this awesome state of body and mind efficiently. An awesome way to use the first thirty minutes would be to do some exercise, sweat a bit, take a nice shower and indulge in some meditation. And you can do all that while playing some soul-soothing songs, because remember there is no hurry. However, it’s totally up to you. The suggestion here is just to use this time in enriching your life.

Once, you have had your perfect start and are all buckled up for the day, just go and start working. This ‘working’ is however slightly different. You have to work to improve your skills in this period, learn newer things, read something that would help your grow. These little bits of improvement everyday first up in the morning would evolve you as a person and professional. You would be able to accomplish things that you previously thought were impossible with the limited time you had. You always wanted to write that book, practice yoga, learn guitar or enhance your marketing skills, well this is the time to do it.

There is another wonderful way in which you can transform your life by waking up early. You can use this time to reflect. Just foresee your day ahead and analyse if your schedule is in alignment with your life goal. Think if you are moving in the direction which leads you to where you want to be in 5-10 years. And this particular hour of the day is just the perfect time to motivate yourself to make those alterations in your schedule. The negativity outside is yet to touch you. And you are more determined than you would ever be through the course of day.
