Emotional Shikhar Dhawan bids farewell to the world cup
"He was desperate to play, didn’t want to leave the squad. And the captain wanted him badly. But at last the human body proved to be too fragile"
India’s swashbuckling top order stands broken. The ICC tournament Dhawan, the man who has a record of absolutely smashing the ball in world cups has to go. Alas, he had just one century to offer this time. He was desperate to play, didn’t want to leave the squad. And the captain wanted him badly. But at last the human body proved to be too fragile. He won’t recover until mid-July. An emotional Dhawan took to twitter to say his goodbyes and insisted that the show must go on.
I feel emotional to announce that I will no longer be a part of #CWC19. Unfortunately, the thumb won’t recover on time. But the show must go on.. I'm grateful for all the love & support from my team mates, cricket lovers & our entire nation. Jai Hind!🙏 🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/zx8Ihm3051

He has been replaced by Rishabh Pant, he is a left hander too and hits huge sixes but you need a lot more than that that to fill the very big boots of Gabbar. No more twirling of moustache this summer. Next time mate.
