Bajaj Chetak: Your childhood ride is back!
"On Wednesday, Bajaj re-launched the iconic scooter in a whole new avatar bringing a smile on faces of a lot of potbellied fathers"
If you remember the 90s and very much the early 2000s, you would recall that old scooter that was almost a part of the family. It had an infinite seating capacity. Well, somehow the entire family adjusted on it. And if you have been eating your almonds, you very much might recall standing on the footrest, holding the handle and assuming you are the pilot. But as they say every good thing comes to an end.
The Bajaj Chetak gradually disappeared from the roads. The most trustworthy office ride was no more. It was replaced by sleek scooties and sporty bikes. But a part of our heart kept missing that old vroom vroom scooter. And it seems Bajaj had been listening to our heartbeats.
On Wednesday, Bajaj re-launched the iconic scooter in a whole new avatar bringing a smile on faces of a lot of potbellied fathers. It was only justified that it was launched by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Anyway, the market is fierce at the moment and Chetak hasn’t come back without preparations.
The new Chetak is an e-scooter. In layman terms, it will run on a battery. One charge and you can hover around for up to 95 Kms. What else? It comes in a metallic body, solid like its name. And Chetak isn’t going to be the old boring blue this time. It will be available in 6 colours once it hits the market and that won’t be before January of next year. So you got to wait a bit to get back on the 0ld horse. Just one disclaimer, it doesn’t come with the ‘infinite seating capacity’ these days, traffic rules!
