The youth wing workers of the BJP in West Bengal organized a unique protest against Muslims blocking roads on Fridays to offer Namaz. They recited Hanuman Chalisa at Bally Khal by doing exactly what they were protesting against –blocking roads. It’s like selling tomatoes 100 Rs/kg to protest against inflation. Anyway, BJYM has announced to repeat the same on every Tuesday at all main roads near Hanuman temples, that’s like literally everywhere. In a statement given to ANI the district president of BJYM, OP Singh threatened Mamata Banerjee to take action.

While the idea to stop religious activities on roads is a welcoming one, the choice of protest is slightly ironic. How often has one seen ambulances being blocked by religious processions on roads, people getting back late to home post-work because some revellers feel it’s their right to dance their way to the wedding venue.

Roads should be left for cars and cows (since we can’t touch them). There are umpteen mosques and temples in the country, and new ones are coming up every day to encroach on government lands. There is absolutely no dearth of place to pray. And it’s the government’s job to ensure all religious activities keep off the road.
